The last of 284 workers laid off from AK Steel’s Mansfield, Ohio plant returned to work as of late January. The company began layoffs in November 2008 at the plant, which specializes in stainless processing, hot and cold rolling, and specialty melting.
As steel demand improves, employees are working a six-week work cycle. They will be laid off for two weeks in mid-February and will return to work for another six weeks in early March.
