AK Steel may be divided into two
According to speculations in the market, US mill AK Steel will be divided into two for sale. The division will be materialized through sale of carbon unit and the sale of
stainless and electrical steel unit. Moreover,
US Steel and Arcelor are reported to be interested in carbon unit of the mill and ThyhssenKrupp in
stainless and electrical steel unit.
Another speculation in the market claims that AK Steel will rejoin AISI (American Iron and Steel Institute) as of January 1, 2004.
