Thursday, 17 June 2010 02:16:42 (GMT+3)   |

According to a June 16 release by the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), during the month of April, US steel mills shipped 7,057,660 net tons, which reflects a 7.7 percent decrease from the 7,646,938 net tons shipped in March.  It should be noted, though, that tonnages shipped in April 2010 indicate a 74.6 percent increase from the 4,042,457 net tons shipped in April 2009.

Month-to-month, the data suggests that hot dipped galvanized sheet and strip shipments declined 21 percent; while both hot rolled sheet and cold rolled sheet shipments were down 7 percent.  Oil Country Goods improved slightly, though from 177,405 in March to 189,857 in April; reflecting a seven percent gain.
