Mexican integrated steelmaker Altos Hornos de Mexico (AHMSA) announced its normalizing line has approved a technical evaluation for its plate process, developed by Trinity Rails Corporative (TRC), and as a result received a recommendation for the acquisition of plates to build railcars.

Auditors from TRC interviewed executives, directors and operational workers at AHMSA’s normalizing line to know the process in details and standardize the mechanical properties of the company’s plate.

“The evaluation included the beginning of the process of mechanical cleansing of the plates to eliminate superficial oxide to the treatment in the horizontal furnace,” AHMSA said in a statement.

AHMSA’s plate received 94 points in a total valuation of 100 points.
