Mexican integrated steelmaker Altos Hornos de Mexico (AHMSA) said this week it has commenced maintenance at its No. 5 blast furnace and No. 1 continuous caster. The company said it will invest MXN 357 million ($18.7 million) to complete all maintenance scheduled for this year, which the company described as the “most intense maintenance program thus far” this year.

The $18.7 million maintenance investment covers all the company’s repair works, including an MXN 29 million investment to repair its heavy profiles department, among others, as previously reported by SteelOrbis.

AHMSA’s scheduled maintenance program also includes repairs at the No. 2 converter, the BOF located at its No. 2 steelworks, and the No. 6 blast furnace.
