Mexican integrated steelmaker Altos Hornos de Mexico (AHMSA) unveiled late last week plans to meet several energy efficiency targets. AHMSA said the targets were set under an agreement with the National Commission for the Efficient Use of Energy (Conuee), and Danish Energy.

Under the terms of the agreement, AHMSA committed to eliminating over 16,600 mt of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the next three years. The deal involves the steelmaker’s hot finished steel products department.

Currently, AHMSA supplies its over 50 percent its own energy needs, according to a company estimate.
