Mexico’s largest integrated steelmaker, Altos Hornos de México (Ahmsa), reported a net loss of 668.7 million Mexican pesos (US$49.3 million) in the third quarter of 2014, compared with a net loss of 519.5 million Mexican pesos (US$38.3 million) in the corresponding quarter a year earlier.
However, sales revenues went up by 16.4 percent in the same comparison period, to 11.02 billion Mexican pesos (US$812.3 million).
AHMSA shipped 932,943 tons of steel products in Q3, up by 5.2 percent from 886,524 tons of steel sold in Q3 2014. The steelmaker produces slab, plate, hot rolled coil, cold rolled coil and tinplate, as well as heavy sections and beams.
