Mexican integrated steelmaker Altos Hornos de Mexico (AHMSA) has joined a cross-border trade group, SteelOrbis has learned. The trade group, named Bordernomics, aims to “increase economic prosperity” for all US-Mexico border states through “strong public/private collaborations in advocacy, trade and networking.”

Companies joining the trade group include Ternium, KIA Motors, Mexico’s consulate in Austin, and the US Federal Reserve, among others.

AHMSA’s Ryan Richardson was named the group’s vice chairman. He runs the steelmaker’s Canadian and US sales and distribution businesses for AHMSA.
