A maintenance worker at the Edgar Thomson slab mill in Braddock, Pennsylvania, a part of US Steel's Mon Valley Works in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was hurt while working on a blast furnace Friday. Local news agencies reported that the worker hurt his shoulder and burned his knees after falling into a hot-metal runner; the runner was empty but still hot.

No other employees were hurt in the incident and production at the mill was not affected.
