South Korean steelmaker Pohang Iron and Steel Co. (POSCO) has started the production of 0.8 mm thick hot rolled coil (HRC) - the first time this HRC thickness has been produced in South Korea, according to media reports.

Media sources stated the 0.8 mm hot rolled coil, which can be used in the automotive interior panels, motor cores, household electrical appliances and pipes, is expected to replace high-priced cold rolled products.

Media sources also stated that as a next step POSCO aims to produce 0.75 mm hot rolled coils.
