The largest South African iron ore producer Kumba Iron Ore Company, a subsidiary of Anglo American Plc, has announced that the illegal occupation of the company's Sishen mine has been brought to an end by police who removed the strikers on Tuesday, October 16.

The mine will be restored to full scale production as soon as possible, according to the company statement.

As SteelOrbis previously reported, production at the mine was suspended on October 4, due to approximately 300 striking employees blocking access to the pit.
