TEU shipments into the US rise 8 percent in April

Minneapolis, Minnesota-based trade intelligence company, Zepol Corporation, announced Wednesday that US import shipment volume for April, measured in TEUs, rose 7.7 percent from March and 5.7 percent over April of last year. The total number of shipments was higher as well, increasing 7 percent from March, and 5.7 percent year-on-year.

Shipments in April from ports in Asia jumped 13.5 percent, driven largely by a 27 percent month-on-month rise of Chinese shipments. On the other hand, shipments from South America and Europe fell in April, dropping 10 percent and 6.5 percent, respectively, from March.
