The summer vacation season has started to take its toll on the US domestic steel industry, and sources close to SteelOrbis say that prices, order activity and inquires for US domestic and import A-53 ERW BPE Grade A standard pipe are trending at levels that are on-par with the seasonal slowdown.

“There really haven’t been any notable changes in the market,” according to one Midwest-based source.  “Everything is pretty much status quo.”  Import offer prices from Korean, Vietnamese and Turkish mills continue to hold in the approximate range of about $33.00-$34.00 cwt. ($728-$750/mt or $660-$680/nt), DDP loaded truck in US Gulf coast ports, while US domestic spot price ranges for A-53 ERW BPE Grade A standard pipe remain in the approximate range of $42.50-$43.50 cwt. ($937-$959/mt or $850-$870/nt), ex-Midwest mill.
