Turkish market for welded pipes is currently characterized by different trends. Market players report that demand from the EU and the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region is better as offers of Turkish welded pipes are very attractive now in the international market due to currency fluctuations. Thus, large Turkish producers are trying to keep their export quotations for welded pipes stable or even to raise them. Nevertheless, smaller producers are ready to grant discounts and reduce export prices. As a result, the current export price range of Turkish welded pipes has widened: over the past two weeks the lower end has decreased by $10/mt, while the upper end has risen by $40-50/mt. Despite the ongoing weakness of buying activity in the local market, some pipe suppliers have tried to lift prices and test the market. Thus, the current domestic price range of locally produced welded pipes has widened by $5-20/mt over the analyzed period. Turkish pipe makers do not foresee significant price growth in the coming period as the market situation is still unstable.

Local Turkish producer Tosyali Holding provides discounts on its industrial pipes, water pipes and hollow sections of 30-32 percent from their official price list. As a result, taking into account the discount levels, domestic prices of ½"-4" water and gas pipes with wall thickness of 2.6-4.5 mm of steel grade St37 as per EN 10255 are in fact at around $650-680/mt ex-works. Domestic prices of hollow sections with wall thickness of 2-4 mm made from HRC as per EN 10219 are in fact at around $640-670/mt ex-works. Actual offers of industrial pipes of 48-89 mm outside diameter and 2.0-3.0 mm wall thickness made to made to EN 10219/EN 10305-3 from HRC are being given to the domestic market at $650-670/mt ex-works.

Another domestic producer Yucel Boru provides discounts of 15 percent from their official price list. As a result, the range of domestic quotations of ½"-4" water and gas pipes of steel grade St37 made to EN 10255 are at around $815-835/mt ex-works. The range of domestic quotations of hollow sections made to EN 10219 is at around $780-810/mt ex-works (taking discounts into consideration).

Actual offers of ½"-4" water and gas pipes of steel grade St37 made to EN 10255 from Borusan Mannesmann are being given to the domestic market at $800-860/mt ex-works.

Current export prices of Turkish ERW pipes and hollow sections of 2-6 mm wall thickness made from S235JR grade HRC according to EN 10219 or ASTM A500 are at the level of $670-740/mt FOB on theoretical weight basis. Export offers of ERW pipes and hollow sections of 1.5 mm wall thickness made from HRC are at around $730-800/mt FOB, while the same products made from CRC are at $750-840/mt FOB. Water and gas ERW pipes of 2.0-4.5 mm wall thickness made to EN 10255 from S235 grade HR products are being offered for export at about $690-760/mt FOB.
