Sources close to SteelOrbis have confirmed that overall market activity within the
US domestic Grade A ERW BPE standard pipe markets have started to pick up since the start of January, but overall order activity is still far from robust. “It seems as if everyone has finally started to wake up from the holidays,” one source said, noting that steady construction activity in several parts of the
US is helping downstream markets.
In terms of pricing, that continues to remain steady since our last report two weeks ago as the most commonly reported
US domestic spot market prices for domestic Grade A ERW BPE standard pipe continue to trend in the approximate range of $42.50-$43.50 cwt. ($937-$959/mt or $850-$870/nt), ex-Midwest mill; trader sources continue to report that futures offer prices from Turkish producers continue to trend at approximately $29.00-$30.00 cwt. ($639-$662/mt or $580-$600/nt), DDP loaded truck in
US Gulf coast ports.
In terms of current import tonnages, the most recent data from the
US Department of Commerce Enforcement and Compliance indicates that for the month of December, the
US imported 50,750 mt (license data) of standard pipe from global producers; as of January 19, current month import tons from global producers has been tallied at 44,752 mt (license data.)
