US import line pipe prices from Mexico revise downward

Pricing for US import API-X52 ERW line pipe from Mexico in the US domestic market, which was previously heard at $49.50-$51.50 cwt. ($1091-$1135/mt or $990-$1030/nt), FOB Houston, has since revised downward.

The price revision is believed to be an attempt by Mexican line pipe mills to spur order activity, which has been lax due to year-end arrival times and the still-to-be-announced results of the Section 232 investigation.

The latest prices, sources note, are now being heard at $45.50-$46.50 cwt. ($1003-$1025/mt or $910-$930/nt), FOB Houston, for November arrival; this reflects a $4.00 cwt. ($88/mt or $80/nt) decrease from pricing heard earlier this month.
