US domestic standard pipe prices continue to inch up

The most commonly heard spot price transaction range for US domestic Grade A ERW BPE standard pipe has firmed by approximately $0.50 cwt. ($11/mt or $10/nt) since our last report two weeks ago, which brings the current average range to $43.50-$45.00 cwt. ($959-$992/mt or $870-$900/nt), ex-Midwest mill.

The ongoing upticks are directly attributed to pricing upticks seen within the US domestic scrap market and the US domestic hot rolled coil market.  This week, US flat rolled steel producers announced a fifth price increase for all sheet steel products.  It’s strongly believed that should the HRC price increase start to gain acceptance, that US domestic standard pipe prices will continue to tick upward.
