Prices for import API X-42 electric resistance weld (ERW) line pipe from
Taiwan and
Vietnam may have held steady in the past week, but trader sources say offshore mills are hungry for orders and willing to negotiate. The most commonly heard transaction range out of both countries is still at $38.50-$39.50 cwt. ($849-$871/mt or $770-$790/nt) DDP loaded truck in
US Gulf coast ports, although those prices are in no way firm. Korean mills are also still offering in the approximate range of $40.50-$41.50 ($892-$915/mt or $810-$830/nt), although they too are ready to negotiate deals with anyone who is interested in booking significant tonnages.
Meanwhile, the
US domestic line pipe market continues to be plagued by short, three-week lead-times and overcapacity. Spot prices for
US domestic API X-42 electric resistance weld (ERW) line pipe are unchanged in the past week and are still in the approximate range of $54.00-$55.00 cwt. ($1,191-$1,212/mt or $1,080-$1,100/nt) ex-Midwest mill. That having been said, mills aren’t drawing a firm line in the sand when it comes to pricing. SteelOrbis sources have said that anyone who comes knocking with a decent sized order could easily negotiate a better price.
