Turkish welded pipe prices move up despite weak demand

Demand in the local Turkish welded pipe market has remained at low levels over the past week since buyers have continued to make bookings only to meet their immediate needs. Nevertheless, Turkish welded pipe producers have increased their prices for their domestic market week on week amd the increases in global coal prices and the ongoing uptrend of prices of hot rolled coil - the raw material for welded pipe production.

Accordingly, Turkish producers’ offers for ERW pipes and hollow sections with 2-4 mm wall thickness made from hot rolled coil (HRC) of S235 grade as per EN 10219 to the domestic market have increased by $10/mt during the past week to $505-535/mt ex-works.

Meanwhile, demand for Turkish producers’ welded pipes in the export markets is still weak. However, Turkish producers’ welded pipe export prices have increased by $10/mt week on week to $505-545/mt FOB, due to the upward movement of welded pipe prices in the Turkish domestic market and the increases in Chinese welded pipe export offers.
