Seamless pipe prices in Spain rise on back of costs

Local and foreign seamless pipe suppliers in the Spanish market have substantially increased their prices against the background of further price increases for raw materials. Import prices for Chinese seamless pipes have climbed up by €40-60/mt over the past month, while Ukrainian offers have risen by €110-120/mt. Market insiders are convinced that prices will keep rising, at least in the short and medium term. Meanwhile, although better than at the beginning of the year, consumption is still definitely at unsatisfactory levels. However, for many operators there is no other alternative than to follow the rising trend if they do not want to be sidelined and risk being pushed out of the market.

Current domestic prices for 2"-6" hot-formed seamless pipes grade B made to ASTM A106/API 5L are at around €860-880/mt ex-works.

Prices for Chinese seamless pipes, 2"-6" grade B made to ASTM A106/API 5L, are at about €690-740/mt C&F, exclusive of antidumping duties (in the range of 17.7-39.2 percent depending on the producer).

Offers of Ukrainian seamless pipes, 2"-14" grade B made to ASTM A106/API 5L, are at €880-920/mt DDU. These prices are exclusive of 25.1 percent antidumping duty.

Quotations of Italian seamless pipes, 2"-6" grade B made to ASTM A106/API 5L, to Spain are at €940-950/mt CPT.
