Mexican domestic welded steel pipe prices closed at US$995/mt this week, reflecting a US$25/mt increase during last two weeks.  Meanwhile, structural steel tubing prices fell US$3/mt to reach at US$876/mt ex-mill.

Energy Industry sources say that the fundamentals for the oil sector, in the Energy Reform proposal of the president Enrique Peña, are opening up to the private sector. A new tax regime for Pemex will be included in the fiscal reform initiative of September, to increase transparency and accountability and set rules for content of national purchases and infrastructure projects in Pemex "to use the strong purchasing power of the energy sector as a development of the new industrial policy in Mexico."
