Local Italian welded pipe market supported by higher costs

The increased prices of hot rolled coil (HRC) in the local Italian market have provided support for domestic ERW tube and pipe prices.

At present, discounts on price lists for welded pipes have decreased by 10 percent compared to last month. Spot prices for 80 mm x 80 mm square welded pipes with 3 mm wall thickness as per EN 10219 are in the range of €440-450/mt ($498-509/mt) delivered to customer. Market sources state that the 10 percent decrease in discounts is not enough to cover the increase in raw material prices and so another decrease of between eight percent and nine percent in discounts is anticipated for the month of May.

In the meantime, demand has remained stable at low-to-medium levels, since buyers have preferred to keep their inventories low.
