The most commonly reported spot price transaction range for US domestic Grade A ERW BPE continues to hold mostly lateral since out last report two weeks ago, at $46.00 cwt.  ($1025/mt or $930/nt), ex-Midwest mill, although some sources close to SteelOrbis say they’ve heard that deals slightly below this price point are currently available to customers.

The deal-making, they say, is due to mills’ reduced input costs, as current US domestic HRC spot market prices, and US domestic scrap prices, are trending soft.   Moving forward, US HRC prices are expected to hold “mostly stable” in the upcoming weeks, which is expected to lend stability to US domestic standard pipe prices.

In terms of imports, census data from the US Department of Commerce, Enforcement and Compliance indicates that for the month of May, the US imported 67,075 mt of standard pipe from global suppliers. In comparison, import standard pipe totals for May 2015 were recorded at 111,016 mt.
