Buying activity in the German seamless
pipe market has been declining in line with seasonal factors. German producers have cut their seamless
pipe prices by €5-20/mt ($7-27/mt) over the past month as order levels have fallen owing to summer holidays and maintenance shutdowns. Import quotations of seamless pipes for
Germany have stayed in euro terms at the same levels as one month ago, but due to currency fluctuations prices in dollar terms have decreased by $13-23/mt. It is thought that it will be hard to see any improvements in the German seamless
pipe market in the coming month. However, market players believe that brightening prospects for the key user sectors of seamless pipes such as the construction and automotive industries will result in a modest rise in demand in most EU countries when the autumn comes.
