The Italian welded pipe market has remained sluggish over the past month amid ongoing slack demand from consuming industries during the seasonal summer lull. In this context, Italian welded pipe suppliers have decided to leave their prices unchanged from the levels of one month ago. Business activity is expected to pick up only in September when demand from consuming sectors recovers.

Current domestic quotations from most Italian producers of ERW pipes of 2"-6" size with wall thickness of 2.0-4.0 mm as per EN 10219 made from base steel grade S235JR hot rolled coils are in the range €520-550/mt ($686-726/mt) ex-works, while some other producers are trying to keep their quotations at around €580-600/mt ($766-792/mt) ex-works. However, producers may give discounts for firm orders. Prices are shown on actual weight basis and excluding 21 percent VAT. Quotations of galvanized welded pipes made from steel grade S235JR from Italian producers are in the range of €620-650/mt ($818-858/mt) ex-works.

Export quotations of Italian 2"-6" welded pipes as per EN 10219 are at about €550-630/mt ($726-832/mt) FOB (transportation by sea) or €550-600/mt ($726-792/mt) ex-works (transportation overland). In particular, offer prices for Spain are in the range of €580-630/mt ($766-832/mt) CPT.

Offers from Turkish suppliers of industrial welded pipes with 2-4 mm wall thickness made from HR coils are being given at an average of €520-540/mt ($686-713/mt) CFR to Italy and at €530-560/mt ($700-739/mt) CFR to Spain.

Offers of Bulgarian welded pipes to the Spanish market are standing at an average of €590-610/mt ($779-805/mt) CPT on theoretical weight basis.
