The Italian market for seamless pipes is currently quiet. Over the past month, domestic seamless pipe prices in Italy have slid down by €10-20/mt ($11-22/mt), while prices on US dollar basis have decreased by $53-63/mt in the same period due to the fluctuation of the exchange rate. The reasons for the price decline are softening raw material prices, reduced demand ahead of the holiday season and competition from cheap import material. Besides, most offers from foreign suppliers have been largely steady despite low buying activity. It is expected that the seamless pipe market in Italy will likely remain in suspense until market conditions become clear after the seasonal summer slowdown.
Current domestic prices for Italian seamless pipes of 2"-6" size as per ASTM or EN are at about €1,000-1,050/mt ($1,090-1,145/mt) ex-works.
Export quotations of Italian seamless pipes of 2"-6" Sch 40 of grade B as per ASTM A106 are at around €1,050-1,100/mt ($1,145-1,199/mt) FOB.
