The Romanian market for seamless pipes is currently characterized by near silence, with buyer activity at very low levels. The reason for this silence is to be found not only in the usual seasonal factors but also in the uncertain economic situation in the region. Over the past month, domestic prices for seamless pipes have moved down by €20/mt ($22/mt), while export quotations have declined by €10-30/mt ($65-84/mt). A revival of demand in the Romanian seamless pipe market is not expected before the second quarter of the current year. Market insiders believe that it will be difficult to implement significant price increases in the coming short term.
Romanian domestic quotations of 3"-10" seamless pipes made to ASTM or EN are at about €860-880/mt ($971-994/mt) delivered, excluding 24 percent VAT.
Export offers of 3"-10" seamless pipes of grade B made to ASTM A106/API 5L are being given by ArcelorMittal Roman to the external markets at around €870-900/mt ($983-1,017/mt) FCA, while 12"-14" pipes are at levels of €895-950/mt ($1,011-1,074/mt) FCA.
Import offers of 3"-4" seamless pipes from the Czech Republic (ArcelorMittal) of grade B as per ASTM A106 are being given to the Romanian market at €870-890/mt ($983-1,006/mt) CPT.
