Late Monday, Atlas Tube sent a letter to customers announcing that it is increasing the price on hollow structural section (HSS) products effective with all new orders received after 5:00 CST on August 6, 2012.
Prices will increase by a minimum of $2.00 cwt. ($44/mt or $40/nt) on all HSS shapes through 12 square and equivalent rectangles and all HSS rounds up throuhg 20"OD.
Orders currently on the books will be price protected for shipments through September 7, 2012. Monday's increase follows another $2.00 cwt. increase announced on July 19.
By Tuesday, both Independence Tube and EXL Tube had followed suit. In a letter to customers, Indepence said that it is increasing the prices on HSS products effective with all new orders received after 8:00am CST Tuesday, August 7 by a minimum of $2.00 cwt, and all orders on the books will be price protected trhough September 7.
Meanwhile, EXL Tube said it was immediately increasing the pricing for all square, rectangular and round mechanical and structrual products (A-500 and A-513) by a minimum of $40/nt, with price protection for on the books through September 7.
Both Independence Tube and EXL Tube announced $40/nt increases in mid-July as well.
