Atlas, Independence, Leavitt and Bull Moose Tube raise HSS prices $50/nt

Chicago, Illinois-based Atlas Tube sent a letter to customers late Wednesday increasing the price on hollow structural section (HSS) products effective with all new orders received after 5:00 pm CST November 16, 2011.

Prices will increase by a minimum of:

All HSS shapes up through 12 sq (square and equivalent rectangles)--$2.50 cwt. ($55/mt or $50/nt)

All HSS rounds up through 20" OD--$2.50 cwt. ($55/mt or $50/nt)

All orders currently on Atlas' books will be price protected for shipments through December 17th, 2011.  This increase will apply to all unconfirmed quotes and contracts.

By Thursday, other HSS mills including: Leavitt Tube, Independence Tube and Bull Moose Tube followed, sending similar letters to customers increasing prices by a minimum of $2.50 cwt. ($55/mt or $50/nt).
