US pig iron import prices from Brazil stable

On July 21, SteelOrbis reported basic steelmaking pig iron offers to the US from Brazil at $350-360/mt CFR US Southern port from both the Southern and Northern Brazil regions.

According to sources, a US firm has finalized a deal at $330/mt FOB Southern Brazil port in the week ended August 4 which translates to approximately $350-352/mt CFR US port. A source noted that while offers continue at $350-360/mt CFR US port, the latest deal and global trend may increase offers through the week as Brazilian pig iron producers seek higher prices in upcoming deals.
