According to market sources, demand for pig iron export offers from the CIS has been slack during the past week, while ex-CIS pig iron offers are currently at $265-270/mt FOB. In the current week, an Ukrainian pig iron producer has opened a tender which is expected to be closed next week. Additionally, ex-CIS pig iron offers to Italy are currently in the range of $295-300/mt CFR, while buyers consider this price range to be on the high side and have given firm bids at $285-290/mt CFR. No new transactions have been heard at these price levels. Meanwhile, ex-CIS pig iron offers to Turkey are at $285-290/mt CFR, while Turkish buyers are showing little interest in these offers from the CIS and are expected to shape their pig iron purchase strategy in line with the trend of import scrap prices in the coming period.
