According to market sources, influenced by the downtrend of import scrap prices, ship scrap prices in Turkey have also trended downward.  Accordingly, ship scrap prices in Turkey's Aliaga region - the only region in Turkey where ship scrapping is allowed - have declined by $10-15/mt over the past two weeks to $350-355/mt ex-yard. Due to the Feast of Sacrifice holiday (October 3-7), ship breaking activity in Aliaga has slowed down, though after the holiday factories are expected to accelerate their ship scrap bookings. Meanwhile, so far this year 460,000 mt of melting scrap have been provided from the scrapping of 166 ships at the Aliaga scrapping facilities.
