Scrap prices rise in East Asia

In South Korea, two mills recently booked Japanese H2 scrap at JPY 27,500-28,000 ($234-239/mt), FOB Tokyo Bay. This translates to approximately JPY 30,000-30,500/mt CFR ($256-260/mt). Relative to the week prior, deal prices increased roughly JPY 500-1,000/mt ($4.3-8.5/mt).

A Taiwanese mill recently booked 5,000 mt of Japanese H2 scrap for January shipment at $265-270/mt CFR, which is equivalent to JPY 28,000/mt ($239/mt) on an FOB basis.

Offers from Japanese dealers for H2 are currently reported at JPY 28,500-29,000 ($243-247/mt) FOB.
