Domestic scrap prices in Italia have remained stable during the past week.
Scrap distributors who were expected to be able to push a price increase had to drop their idea due to some unexpected developments like extra maintenance works in some local mills.
Market sources now talk about the possibility of a reduction in scrap distributors' prices with the intention to lower their inventories but the real comparison between supply and demand will not arrive until the end of September when all the mills will run at their ordinary rate. Until that time some decreases are expected for Italian scrap prices.
In the meantime there is no trace of deals with significant volumes so spot prices in the local Italian scrap market are theoretically at the same level recorded last week.
Average spot prices in the local Italian scrap market are as follows:
Quality | Average spot price (€/mt) |
Turnings (E5) | 170-175 ($190-196/mt) |
HMS (E1/E3) | 190-195 ($213-218/mt) |
Shredded scrap (E40) | 200-210 ($224-235/mt) |
Busheling (E8) | 195-205 ($218-230/mt) |
Prices include delivery and exclude VAT.
