Brazilian deals referenced in the pig iron report last week are no longer available according to sources. The last deal to the US for 70,000 mt of pig iron from Carajas, Brazil is rumored to have sold to a US buyer at $290/mt FOB under special circumstances according to a pig iron distributor close to SteelOrbis. Both the recent deal and pig iron price increases by CIS suppliers have moved offers up from Brazil.
According to sources close to SteelOrbis, offers for basic steelmaking pig iron jumped $10/mt to $275-285/mt FOB Brazil this week. Given some variations from North and South Brazil sellers along with recent freight increases, this translates to $290-300/mt CFR New Orleans.
Offers from the CIS have moved up $5/mt from last week and are being heard between $275-285/mt FOB Black Sea for December delivery. For January delivery, though, offers are being heard at $280-295/mt FOB Black Sea.
