Local German scrap price levels in November

According to the latest figures provided by the German steel scrap recycler association (BDSV), in the first 20 days of November domestic steel scrap prices in Germany decreased by €15/mt ($19/mt) on average compared to the corresponding period in the month of October.

In both February and March this year, scrap quotations in Germany had recorded an average month-on-month decrease of €15-16/mt ($19-20/mt), while in April prices had increased by €12-19/mt ($15-24/mt) compared to the previous month. In May this year, local scrap prices in Germany had decreased on average by €1.92/mt ($2.4/mt) month on month. In June, price decreases of €2-4/mt ($3-5/mt) were recorded, while in July prices had generally remained stable. In August, local scrap prices had increased by €7/mt ($9/mt), while in September a very slight price increase was registered, followed by a decrease of €15/mt ($19/mt) in October and, finally, by a further €15/mt ($19/mt) decline in November.

On the other hand, on year-on-year basis, in the first 20 days of November this year German domestic scrap prices indicated a significant decrease of €35.5/mt.
