The Italian domestic scrap market is moving on an upward trend on the back of increases in scrap prices in the international and European markets, rather than due to any improvement in the Italian finished steel market. The uptrend in the domestic scrap market has led to a decrease in scrap supply. According to sources, the current trend in the scrap market is very unusual considering the proximity of the summer holidays, while it is difficult to say how long this upward trend will last.
