Latest situation in local Italian scrap market

As reported by SteelOrbis previously, the Italian scrap market had started the month of April with a slight decline on the back of downward movement of import scrap prices in Turkey. However, as international scrap prices subsequently indicated upticks, the Italian domestic scrap market has moved sideways in the past week.
 
Currently, the situation is very calm in the market. According to sources, local suppliers and steelmakers seem willing to maintain current scrap prices until the end of April, after the great volatility seen in the first quarter this year. Nevertheless, the same sources say that the current equilibrium could be disturbed by factors such as price trends in China and Turkey, and by geopolitical factors.
