Following the 10-15 percent increase recorded in the first days of September, domestic scrap prices in Italy have remained mostly stable in the past week. Market sources reported that the market is “troublefree”, while it is early to evaluate the volumes that will be transacted at the current prices. Despite some signs of uncertainty coming from the international market - with most Turkish importers still maintaining a wait-and-see stance – a positive sentiment prevails in the local Italian scrap market due to the fact that local steelmakers (above all, specialty steel producers) are living a good moment in terms of sales.
