With a number of scrap suppliers seeking to conclude sales to Turkey and with Turkish steel producers not being in any rush to book imported scrap, oversupply has started to be observed in the import scrap market in Turkey and Turkish producers’ import scrap purchase prices have trended downwards again. In the context, ex-US scrap deals in Turkey for HMS I/II 80:20 scrap, which were concluded at $193/mt CFR early this week, have been concluded at $185.75/mt CFR in the latest deal heard today, January 15. In this latest scrap booking, a Turkish steel producer has concluded an ex-US deal for 27,000 mt of HMS I/II 80:20 scrap at $185.75/mt CFR, 8,000 mt of shredded scrap at $190.75/mt CFR and 5,000 of bonus grade scrap at $195.75/mt CFR.
