Demand and inquiries for ex-CIS pig iron in the export markets have started to recover this week, with market players slowly returning from their New Year holidays, while ex-CIS pig iron offers have remained stable week on week at $300-320/mt FOB. Market players state that the sharp declines in global coking coal prices have not been reflected in iron ore prices, and, despite recording some slight fluctuations, iron ore prices are still strong, providing support for the sideways movement of ex-CIS pig iron quotations.
