During the past two weeks, suppliers of ex-CIS pig iron have revised their offers downwards in line with the softening of prices in the Turkish import scrap market. Also, the slight decreases in iron ore prices, which had reached $65/mt CFR in mid-June, have played a role in the downtrend of pig iron prices from the CIS region.

According to market sources, ex-CIS pig iron offers have softened by $5/mt over the past two weeks to 260-265/mt FOB, while ex-CIS pig iron offers to Turkey are at $277-280/mt CFR. Meanwhile, a steel producer in Turkey's Marmara region concluded a deal for Ukrainian pig iron at $278/mt CFR in recent days.
