In Turkey's Aliaga region - the only region in the country where ship scrapping is allowed - ship scrap purchase prices of local steelmakers have indicated diverse trends over the past week. While ship scrap purchase quotations of some local steel producers have declined week on week, the others have kept their ship scrap purchase prices stable in the same period. Overall, in the Aliaga region the range of ship scrap purchase prices has remained the same as last week at $210-245/mt ex-yard.
On the other hand, Cebitas Demir Celik's latest ship scrap purchase was concluded a month ago at $245/mt ex-yard, while the steelmaker has not concluded any bookings since then.
Additionally, market sources state that buyers in the Turkish ship scrap market have maintained a cautious approach towards new deals, while ship breaking facilities in Aliaga want to sell their ship scrap cargos quickly due to their expectations of a further decline in global steel prices.
In Turkey's Aliaga region, ship scrap purchase prices of local steelmakers are as follows:
Producer | Price ($/mt) |
Habas | 230 |
Ege Celik | 210 |
IDC | 225 |
Ozkan Demir Celik | 225 |
Cebitas Demir Celik | 245 |
