As of June 6, prices of both imported and domestic production iron ore in the local Chinese market indicate a slight decrease on week-on-week basis, continuing the soft trend of the previous week.

At present, Indian fine ores of 63.5 percent grade are offered at $139.9/mt at Qingdao port. Meanwhile, quotations of 66 percent iron ore concentrate in Tangshan stand at $127/mt, and prices of the same material are at $107.7/mt in Beipiao, both excluding VAT. Prices of domestic production and imported iron ore in China can be viewed in the SteelOrbis price reports section.

In the first half of the past week, iron ore prices in China continued to decline. However, late in the week, prices started to rebound due to an increase in tonnages being ordered by steel mills. On the whole, current iron ore prices in the Chinese market are still lower as compared to one week ago. It is expected that in the coming period iron ore prices in China will trend sideways.
