Due to restrictions on power usage implemented by the Chinese government, domestic silicon alloy and manganese alloy prices have been greatly influenced in the main production areas. All product offer prices are strongly up, with ferrosilicon prices increasing by RMB 200/mt ($29/mt). Most enterprises in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region and in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region have suspended production operations. Market supply remains tight.
Product name | Specification | Place of origin | Price (RMB/mt) | Weekly change (RMB/mt) | Price ($/mt) | Weekly change ($/mt) |
Silicon manganese | FeMn65Si17 | Guangxi | 7,800 | +100 | 1,147 | +15 |

Manganese alloy prices in China continued to rise in the past week. FeMn65Si17 market offers in the northern region stand at RMB 7,900-8,100/mt ($1,162-1,191/mt), with the southern market prices at RMB 7,700-8,000/mt ($1,132-1,176/mt), up by RMB 100/mt week on week. FeMn65 prices are standing at RMB 7,600-7,800/mt ($1,118-1,147), up RMB 100/mt week on week. FeMn65Si17 export prices are at $1,480-1,500/mt FOB.
Due to the surges in manganese alloy prices, many mills have been forced to cut down production. Due to the energy saving and emissions reduction policy implemented by the Chinese government, many producing regions have been affected by rationing of power supplies. As a result, manganese alloy supplies are expected to be tight into the future. In addition, the high-carbon ferromanganese and Si-Mn product prices have increased compared to last month, with siliconmanganese mill prices at over RMB 8,000/mt ($1,176/mt).
Chinese ferrosilicon prices have greatly increased during the past week. Domestic ferrosilicon (75%) ex-factory prices stand at RMB 6,700-6,900/mt ($985-1,015/mt), up RMB 200/mt compared to last week. In addition, ferrosilicon export prices stand at $1,400-1,420/mt FOB.
Chinese ferrosilicon market prices have continued to soar in the past week, with Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region taking the lead in this round of price increases. As a result, prices of ferrosilicon (75%) have climbed to RMB 7,000/mt ($1,029/mt). The energy saving and emissions reduction policy implemented by the Chinese government will continue to influence the domestic ferrosilicon market, with Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region and Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region expected to be influenced the most. As for the coming period, China's domestic ferrosilicon market will continue to rise.
