Brazilian pellet exports, prices fall in January

Brazil’s exports of iron ore pellets decreased by 29 percent in January to 4.04 million mt, at a slightly lower average price of $92/mt.

In the Brazilian domestic market, sinter feed fines were recently sold at $44/mt, pellets at $62/mt and lumps at $52/mt to the major integrated producers, CFR no taxes, while small lumps are currently being sold to pig iron producers at $54/mt, ex-mine no taxes but including PIS Cofins levies. Itabiritic lumps are sold by small miners to pig iron producers at BRL123/mt ($45/mt), CFR full taxes.
