A source linked to a Brazilian slab producer told SteelOrbis that the niobium producer CBMM will maintain the current domestic price for niobium ferroalloys, BRL 65,000/mt ($19,704/mt), ex-works, full taxes conditions, until the end of March 2017.

The price is reportedly stable since April 2016, as part of a long term deal.

In November, Brazil exported 5,166 mt of niobium ferroalloys at $20,465/mt, FOB conditions, a reduction in volume by 17.4 percent, while the average price increased by 1.8 percent.

CBMM, the world’s largest producer, exported 4,406 mt at $20,626/mt, while China Molybdenum, which acquired the Anglo American plant in the state of Goias, exported 715 mt at $19,579/mt, both FOB conditions.

The main destinations of November were Asia (3,910 mt, of which 2,119 mt to China), the US (660 mt), the EU (446 mt) and Turkey (40 mt), while smaller tonnages were shipped to Canada and Mexico.
