Brazilian iron ore prices remain in downtrend

Prices for Brazilian iron ore have dropped to the levels of November 2016, reflecting reduced prices in the Chinese spot market and stable ocean freight rates. Prices are now on average $2/mt lower since last week, except for lumps, which now command a premium of $6.37/mt over equivalent sinter feed fines in the international markets.
 
Sinter feed fines of 65 percent iron contents are now traded for export from Brazil at $44/mt, lumps at $50/mt and blast furnace grade pellets at $89/mt, FOB conditions.
 
In the Brazilian domestic market, the prices are now $38/mt for sinter feed fines, $44/mt for lumps and $83/mt for blast furnace grade pellets, ex-works, no taxes included.
