Coal transportation in Queensland, Australia's coal producing state which provides 50 percent of global seaborne metallurgical coal supply, has been impacted significantly by Cyclone Debbie and resulting localized flooding which have damaged coal mines and railways in the region. As a result, Australian coking coal export prices have started to move up rapidly.

According to market sources, Australian hard coking coal offers to the export markets have increased by $23/mt to US$172/mt FOB East Coast ports compared to Friday, March 31, while Australian premium hard coking coal export offers in the same period have also moved up by $23/mt to US$175/mt FOB East Coast ports.
