Will higher scrap prices provide boost for Turkish rebar export prices?

According to market players, despite recent increases in scrap prices Turkish rebar offers to the export markets have remained unchanged since last week in the range of $575-585/mt FOB for late August shipments. However, these prices may indicate changes in the coming days depending on received demand, while it is thought that it will be difficult to find Turkish rebar offers under the level of $580/mt FOB at the end of July.

Meanwhile, Turkish mills have currently increased the volume of their offers to the Middle East and North Africa region (MENA) and it will become clearer by next week how much demand Turkish origin rebar offers will receive in the external markets.

On the other hand, Turkish rebar offers to the Saudi market are at $580-585/mt CFR on theoretical weight basis, while ex-Turkey rebar offers for Israel and Yemen can be found in the range of $595-605/mt CFR on theoretical weight basis. In addition, Turkish rebar offers from the Iskenderun region to Iraq, which are at $595-600/mt ex-works, are attracting demand in the Iraqi market and sales are at good levels.
